Man racially abuses Muslim woman

A man who racially abused a Muslim woman and then tried to rip off her veil is being hunted by police.

The 37-year-old woman was attacked as she crossed East Park towards the Cenotaph in Southampton on Thursday afternoon. The attacker grabbed her by the neck and told her to remove her veil. He then tried to take it off himself but she struggled free and fled. Pc Leigh Walker said: “This attack was particularly degrading for the victim.” Police say the park was very busy at the time and there were also people waiting at the bus stops on Above Bar Street and they are appealing for witnesses to come forward. Pc Leigh Walker said: “We need to put a stop to this kind of behaviour by someone who is ignorant to the diverse society that we live in. “We will not stand for any type of racial or religious abuse and will deal with anyone who does abuse or assault people like this robustly.

Status of Woman in Islam

Woman between the honouring of Islam and the humiliation of Jaahiliyyah Question:
The west accuses Islam of oppressing women. What is the status of woman in Islam?

Answer:  Praise be to Allah.  In Islam, woman has a high status which no past nation ever achieved and which no subsequent nation has been able to attain, because the honour which Islam gives to humanity includes men and women equally. They are equal before the rulings of Allaah in this world and they will be equal with regard to His reward and punishment in the Hereafter. Allaah says (interpretation of the meanings):  “And indeed We have honoured the Children of Adam”[al-Isra’ 17:70] “There is a share for men and a share for women from what is left by parents and those nearest related”[al-Nisa’ 4:7] “And they (women) have rights (over their husbands as regards living expenses) similar (to those of their husbands) over them (as regards obedience and respect) to what is reasonable.”[al-Baqarah 2:228] “The believers, men and women, are Awliya’ (helpers, supporters, friends, protectors) of onw another.”[al-Tawbah 9:71 ] “And your Lord has decreed that you worship none but Him. And that you be dutiful to your parents. If one of them or both of them attain old age in your life, say not to them a word of disrespect, nor shout at them but address in terms of honour. And lower unto them the wing of submission and humility through mercy, and say: ‘My Lord! Bestow on them Your Mercy as they did bring me up when I was young’”[al-Isra’ 17:23-24]

And Allaah says (interpretation of the meanings):  “So their Lord accepted of them (their supplication and answered them), “Never will I allow to be lost the work of any of you, be he male or female”[Aal ‘Imraan 3:195]

“Whoever works righteousness — whether male or female — while he (or she) is a true believer (of Islamic Monotheism) verily, to him We will give a good life (in this world with respect, contentment and lawful provision), and We shall pay them certainly a reward in proportion to the best of what they used to do (i.e. Paradise in the Hereafter)”[al-Nahl 16:97]

“And whoever does righteous good deeds, male or female, and is a (true) believer [in the Oneness of Allaah (Muslim)], such will enter Paradise and not the least injustice, even to the size of a Naqeera (speck on the back of a date stone), will be done to them”[al-Nisa’ 4:124]

There is nothing in any other religion, nation or law that can compare to the honour which woman gains in Islam. The Roman civilization decreed that woman was a slave who belonged to man, and had no rights at all. In Rome a major synod met to discuss the case of woman, and decided that she was a being who had no soul, and that therefore she would not inherit life in the Hereafter, and that she was evil.

In Athens women were regarded as chattels; they were bought and sold, and were regarded as evil, the handiwork of the devil. The ancient laws of India state that disease, death, Hell, snake venom and fire were all better than woman. Her right to life came to an end when her husband’s – or master’s – life ended. When she saw his body burning she would throw herself into the flames; if she did not do so, she would be subject to curses. With regard to woman in Judaism, the ruling on her in the Old Testament is as follows: So I turned my mind to understand,

To investigate and to search out wisdom and the scheme of things and to understand the stupidity of wickedness and the madness of folly. I find more bitter than death the woman who is a snare,  whose heart is a trap and whose hands are chains…” (Ecclesiastes 7:25-26- New International Version)

It is known that the Old Testament is venerated and believed by both Jews and Christians. This was the situation of woman in ancient times. With regard to her situation in the Middle Ages and in modern times, this will be explained by the following: The Danish writer Wieth Kordsten explained the view of the Catholic Church towards women. He said: “During the Middle Ages very little care was given to women, following the teaching of the Catholic church which regarded woman as a second class creation.” In France, a council in 586 CE decided to research the case of woman and whether she was to be counted as human or not. After some discussion, they decided that woman was human, but she was created to serve man. The 217th clause of the French law states the following: “A married woman – even if her marriage is based on the condition of separating what belongs to her and what belongs to her husband – is not permitted to give anything as a gift or to transfer any of her property or use it as collateral, or to take possession of anything whether in return for payment or otherwise, without her husband being a party to the contract or agreeing to it in writing.” In England, Henry VIII forbade the English woman to read the Bible. Until 1850 CE women were not counted as citizens, and until 1882 CE they did not have any personal rights. Silsilat Maqarinah al- Adyaan, by Dr. Ahmad Shalaby, vol. 3, p. 210-213)  As for contemporary woman in Europe, America and other industrial nations, she is a creature which is degraded and abused for commercial purposes. She is a feature of advertising campaigns, and things have reached a stage where she takes off her clothes in order to advertise products on posters, and she sells and displays her body according to systems devised by men, so that she is no more than an object of pleasure for them in every place. Woman is cared for so long as she is able to give and contribute physically or mentally. When she becomes old and cannot give any more, society – individuals and institutions – forsakes her and she lives alone in her house or in a mental hospital. Compare this – and there is no comparison – with the teachings of the Noble Qur’aan, in which Allaah says (interpretation of meaning):  “The believers, men and women, are Awliya’ (helpers, supporters, friends, protectors) of one another”[al-Tawbah 9:71] “And they (women) have rights (over their husbands as regards living expenses) similar (to those of their husbands) over them (as regards obedience and respect) to what is reasonable”[al-Baqarah 2:228] “And your Lord has decreed that you worship none but Him. And that you be dutiful to your parents. If one of them or both of them attain old age in your life, say not to them a word of disrespect, nor shout at them but address them in terms of honour.  And lower unto them the wing of submission and humility through mercy, and say: ‘My Lord! Bestow on them Your Mercy as they did bring me up when I was young’”[al-Isra’ 17:23-24] Since her Lord has honoured her in this way, it is clear to all of mankind that He has created her to be a mother, a wife, a daughter and a sister, so He prescribed laws which apply exclusively to women not men. From al-Islam Usooluhu wa Mabaadi’uhu by Dr. Muhammad ‘Abd-Allaah ibn Saalih al-Sahyeem

Importance of Hijab

Why is hijaab so important when it is not one of the pillar of Islaam?

                                                                   Question No 9515

Question:

Is it right for someone to say that since wearing hijaab is not one of the five pillars of islaaam therefore it is really not that important?

Answer:

Praise be to Allah.

This is a mistakek, because hijaab is obligatory for women. Allah is the One Who has commanded women to cover their adornments, including the face, bosom and all their adornments. This has been enjoined upon women as a protection against abuse and temptation. That is because women are the focus of desire, and the focus of what those who are tempted look at. So if a woman uncovers her beauty she will provoke desire, and people will become attracted to her and will follow her. This is the cause of many immoral actions such as adultery and the things that lead to it. So hijaab is obligatory for women and was enjoined upon them in the aayah (interpretation of the meaning):

“…and t draw their veils all over Juyoobihinna (i.e. their bodies, faces, necks and bosoms)…”

[al-Noor 24:31]

The veil (khimaar) is that which comes down from the head and covers the face, and the jilbaab is an outer garment with which a woman covers herself, leaving no part of her body showing.

And Allah says (interpretation of the meaning):

“And when you ask ( his [the Prophet’s] wives) for anything you want, ask them from behind a screen…”

[al-Ahzaab 33:53]

So it is a protection for women so that there will be no room for people to treat them as playthings.

What has been said about the Prophet (SWS) inviting his followers (nation) to Tauhid Allah, i.e. Islamic Monotheism (worshiping none but Allah (SWT Alone).

2220. Narrated ‘Aisha (RAA) : The Prophet (SWS) sent (an army unit) under the command of a man who used to lead his companions in the Salat (prayers) and would finish his recitation with (the Surah 112): “Say (O Muhammed): “He is Allah, (the) One.'” (S. 112:1) When they returned (from the battle), they mentioned that to the Prophet (SWS). He said (to them), “Ask him why he does so”. They asked him and he said, “I do so because it mentions the qualities of the Most Beneficent and I love to recite it (in my Salat).” The Prophet (SWS) said  (to them), “Tell him that Allah loves him”. Correct Hijaab

Correct Hijaab
  Question No 6991
  Question:
I wanted to know about a matter consurning the RIGHT hijaab
What is the proper hijaab? I mean so many differnt hijaabs are to choose from, And I have this friend from Denmark and she converted to Islam for a while now, and she’s pleased ( ALhamduli_Allah) and she want to wear the right Hijaab. Could you please tell us wear it says that the hijaab SHOULD be LONG (JILBAAB) over the cheas! she really needs this! thank you.
Answer:

Praise be to Allaah.

Shaykh al-Albaani (may Allaah have mercy on him) said:

The conditions of hijaab:

 Firstly:

(It should cover all the body apart from whatever has been exempted).

Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning):“O Prophet! Tell your wives and your daughters and the women of the believers to draw their cloaks (veils) all over their bodies (i.e. screen themselves completely except the eyes or one eye to see the way). That will be better, that they should be known (as free respectable women) so as not to be annoyed. And Allaah is Ever Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.”

This aayah clearly states that it is obligatory to cover all of a woman’s beauty and adornments and not to display any part of that before non-mahram men (“strangers”) except for whatever appears unintentionally, in which case there will be no sin on them if they hasten to cover it up.Al-Haafiz ibn Katheer said in his Tafseer: This means that they should not display any part of their adornment to non-mahrams, apart from that which it is impossible to conceal. Ibn Mas’ood said: such as the cloak and robe, i.e., what the women of the Arabs used to wear, an outer garment which covered whatever the woman was wearing, except for whatever appeared from beneath the outer garment. There is no sin on a woman with regard to this because it is impossible to conceal it.Secondly (it should not be an adornment in and of itself).Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning):

“… and not to show off their adornment…” [al-Noor 24:31]. The general meaning of this phrase includes the outer garment, because if it is decorated it will attract men’s attention to her. This is supported by the aayah in Soorat al-Ahzaab (interpretation of the meaning):

“And stay in your houses, and do not display yourselves like that of the times of ignorance” [al-Ahzaab 33:33]. It is also supported by the hadeeth in which the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “There are three, do not ask me about them: a man who leaves the jamaa’ah, disobeys his leader and dies disobedient; a female or male slave who runs away then dies; and a woman whose husband is absent and left her with everything she needs, and after he left she made a wanton display of herself. Do not ask about them.”(Narrated by al-Haakim, 1/119; Ahmad, 6/19; from the hadeeth of Faddaalah bint ‘Ubayd. Its isnaad is saheeh and it is in al-Adab al-Mufrad).

Thirdly:

(It should be thick and not transparent or “see-thru”)

– because it cannot cover properly otherwise. Transparent or see-thru clothing makes a woman more tempting and beautiful. Concerning this the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “During the last days of my ummah there will be women who are clothed but naked, with something on their heads like the humps of camels. Curse them, for they are cursed.” Another hadeeth adds: “They will not enter Paradise or even smell its fragrance, although its fragrance can be detected from such and such a distance.”

(Narrated by Muslim from the report of Abu Hurayrah).

Ibn ‘Abd al-Barr said: what the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) meant was women who wear clothes made of light fabric which describes and does not cover. They are clothed in name but naked in reality.

Transmitted by al-Suyooti in Tanweer al-Hawaalik, 3/103.

Fourthly:

(It should be loose, not tight so that it describes any part of the body).

The purpose of clothing is to prevent fitnah (temptation), and this can only be achieved if clothes are wide and loose. Tight clothes, even if they conceal the colour of the skin, still describe the size and shape of the body or part of it, and create a vivid image in the minds of men. The corruption or invitation to corruption that is inherent in that is quite obvious. So the clothes must be wide. Usaamah ibn Zayd said: “The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) gave me a thick Egyptian garment that was one of the gifts given to him by Duhyat al-Kalbi, and I gave it to my wife to wear. He said, ‘Why do I not see you wearing that Egyptian garment?’ I said, ‘I gave it to my wife to wear.’ He said, ‘Tell her to wear a gown underneath it, for I am afraid that it may describe the size of her bones.’” (Narrated by al-Diyaa’ al-Maqdisi in al-Ahaadeeth al-Mukhtaarah, 1/442, and by Ahmad and al-Bayhaqi, with a hasan isnaad).

Fifthly:

(It should not be perfumed with bakhoor or fragrance)

There are many ahaadeeth which forbid women to wear perfume when they go out of their houses. We will quote here some of those which have saheeh isnaads:

          1.     Abu Moosa al-Ash’ari said: the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “Any woman who puts on perfume then passes by people so that they can smell her fragrance, is an adulteress.”

          2.     Zaynab al-Thaqafiyyah reported that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “If any one of you (women) goes out to the mosque, let her not touch any perfume.”

          3.     Abu Hurayrah said: the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “Any woman who has scented herself with bakhoor (incense), let her not attend ‘Ishaa’ prayers with us.”

          4.     Moosa ibn Yassaar said that a woman passed by Abu Hurayrah and her scent was overpowering. He said, “O female slave of al-Jabbaar, are you going to the mosque?” She said, “Yes,” He said, “And have you put on perfume because of that?” She said, “Yes.” He said, “Go back and wash yourself, for I heard the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) say: ‘If a woman comes out to the mosque and her fragrance is overpowering, Allaah will not accept any prayer from her until she goes home and washes herself.’”

These ahaadeeth are general in implication. Just as the prohibition covers perfume applied to the body, it also covers perfume applied to the clothes, especially in the third hadeeth, where bakhoor (incense) is mentioned, because incense is used specifically to perfume the clothes.

The reason for this prohibition is quite clear, which is that women’s fragrance may cause undue provocation of desires. The scholars also included other things under this heading of things to be avoided by women who want to go to the mosque, such as beautiful clothes, jewellery that can be seen, excessive adornments and mingling with men. See Fath al-Baari, 2/279.

Ibn Daqeeq al-‘Eed said:

This indicates that it is forbidden for a woman who wants to go to the mosque to wear perfume, because this causes provocation of men’s desires. This was reported by al-Manaawi in Fayd al-Qadeer, in the commentary on the first hadeeth of Abu Hurayrah quoted above.

Sixthly:

(It should not resemble the clothing of men)

It was reported in the saheeh ahaadeeth that a woman who imitates men in dress or in other ways is cursed. There follow some of the ahaadeeth that we know:

          1.     Abu Hurayrah said: “The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) cursed the man who wears women’s clothes, and the woman who wears men’s clothes.”

          2.     ‘Abd-Allaah ibn ‘Amr said: I heard the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) say: ‘They are not part of us, the women who imitate men and the men who imitate women.’”

          3.     Ibn ‘Abbaas said: “The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) cursed effeminate men and masculine women. He said, ‘Throw them out of your houses.’” He said: “The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) expelled So and so, and ‘Umar expelled So and so.” According to another version: “The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) cursed men who imitate women and women who imitate men.”

          4.     ‘Abd-Allaah ibn ‘Amr said: “The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: ‘There are three who will not enter Paradise and Allaah will not even look at them on the Day of Resurrection: one who disobeys his parents, a woman who imitates men, and the duyooth (cuckold, weak man who feels no jealousy over his womenfolk).”

          5.     Ibn Abi Maleekah – whose name was ‘Abd-Allaah ibn ‘Ubayd-Allaah – said: “It was said to ‘Aa’ishah (may Allaah be pleased with her), ‘What if a woman wears (men’s) sandals?’ She said: ‘The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) cursed women who act like men.’”These ahaadeeth clearly indicate that it is forbidden for women to imitate men and vice versa, This usually includes dress and other matters, apart from the first hadeeth quoted above, which refers to dress only.

Abu Dawood said, in Masaa’il al-Imaam Ahmad (p. 261): “I heard Ahmad being asked about a man who dresses his slave woman in a tunic. He said, ‘Do not clothe her in men’s garments, do not make her look like a man.” Abu Dawood said: “I said to Ahmad, Can he give her bachelor sandals to wear? He said, No, unless she wears them to do wudoo’. I said, What about for beauty? He said, No. I said, Can he cut her hair short? He said, No.”

Seventhly:

(It should not resemble the dress of kaafir women).

It is stated in sharee’ah that Muslims, men and women alike, should not resemble or imitate the kuffaar with regard to worship, festivals or clothing that is specific to them. This is an important Islamic principle which nowadays, unfortunately, is neglected by many Muslims, even those who care about religion and calling others to Islam. This is due either to ignorance of their religion, or because they are following their own whims and desires, or because of deviation, combined with modern customs and imitation of kaafir Europe. This was one of the causes of the Muslims’ decline and weakness, which enabled the foreigners to overwhelm and colonize them. “…Verily, Allaah will not change the condition of a people as long as they do not change their state themselves …” [al-Ra’d 13:11 – interpretation of the meaning]. If only they knew.

It should be known that there is a great deal of saheeh evidence for these important rules in the Qur’aan and Sunnah, and that the evidence in the Qur’aan is elaborated upon in the Sunnah, as is always the case.

Eighthly:

(It should not be a garment of fame and vanity).

Ibn ‘Umar (may Allaah be pleased with him) said: “The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: ‘Whoever wears a garment of fame and vanity in this world, Allaah will clothe him in a garment of humiliation on the Day of Resurrection, then He will cause Fire to flame up around him.’”

(Hijaab al-Mar’ah al-Muslimah, p. 54-67).And Allaah knows best.
Hijaab al-Mar’ah al-Muslimah, p. 54-67

This fatawa question stood out to me because we, Muslimahs, have such broad interpretations of what hijab is and is not…… As a new convert I was taught to wear the hijab as the turban with a big bun on the back of your head. My hair was covered but my neck, ears, and chest were all exposed. Now I had a valid excuse that’s what I was taught. But a born Muslimah from country X should know better. But here lately I’ve seen sooooo many sisters in my area with the turban thing on and a hijab around their shoulders. What kind of hijab is that?

Also, I have a pet-peeve with niqaabi mothers who allow their teenage daughters to go out of the house in a turban; skin tight jeans on with their midrift poking out and the top of their bottom sticking out of the top of the jeans in the back; and a swaet shirt. Let me not forget the giant gold hoop ear rings, or the top that’s so tight her breast are oooozing out of the top (and it looks like the seams will burst if she exhales too fast). And don’t forget her bright red thong I mean butt floss. This phenomenon is seen in immigrant families from countries like: Somalia, Morocco, Jordan, Palestine, Egypt, Pakistan, Afghanistan, the girls from Islamic Saudi Academy (Saudi girls), and Sudan. Now you know these mothers know better. How can you dress yourself in full hijab and allow your daughter to dress like a common street walker? And where are the dads? Most are hard at work depending on their wives to teach their children about the hijab and why we need it.

Yes, I said it we need the hijab. Now more than ever before. Not just because we’re in America or whatever either. We NEED hijab because of how immoral we all have become, because of complacent we have all become. Some believe that since we’re in America we cna relax and move, no, run away from “the anceint teachings” of our Sunnah. When we dress and behave the way Allah (SWT) commanded us to crimes like rape, sodomy, child molestation disappear. Heck, we’re so accustomed to seeing half naked girls, and women all around us, this includes the masjid, that most don’t even react anymore.

What’s the difference between a half naked Muslim, Christian, Jew, or whatever?? The Muslim will recieve punishment from Allah (SWT) for not following what He instructed the Prophet to teach; i.e. the wearing of hijab.

Iraqi Death Squads

Watch:
BBC Channel 4:The *Death* *Squads in Iraq:*
**

This video link both sickened me and infuriated me. Are we as a people so dim witted, so impotent that we can allow this sort of tragedy to occur in the name of democracy? Have we forgotten what our Prophet taught us? Wasn’t Yathreb, Medina, locked in this same sort of vicious cycle? YES. It was but those people, who knew very, very little about Islam, or Allah decided for themselves that enough was enough. They reached out to the Prophet and He to them and together established the first government, city state.

We have a responsibility as Muslims, as humans, to demand more for ourselves and more for any and all members of our Ummah. What can we do ? First, of all we must remind the Iraqi people that they should fear Allah (SWT) and HIS wrath because what they are doing is not from the Qur’an or from our Sunnah. So why are they risking the hopes of Jennah? Because they have let go of their senses and are prey to the whims of their own nafs, arrogance, and greed.

Greed because they are clamoring for position and glory in the eyes of their conquerors. And because the largest oil deposits are in the Shia controlled south. Money and the quest for riches has rotted the hearts of these people.

Arrogance because  these Shia clerics are trying to one-up the Sunni citizens for the atrocities they suffered during Saddam Husein’s tenure as President for Life. They have studied so much that they forgot that all disputes are to be settled with an impartial arbiter from each side with the Qur’an as their point of reference between them. This was somehow overlooked. Wonder how. I wonder why. We also have the right albeit the responsibility to fight injustice where ever and whenever we see it. No where in our deen are we taught to run to our enemies for help solving internal problems. We have the word of Allah (SWT) we don’t need anything else.
